How we price Submariners

Every price range on this page reflects actual transaction data from dealer sales, auction results, and private sales we have tracked over the past twelve months. We do not use retail price as a benchmark — we use what the market is actually paying. Prices assume watches are running within COSC specifications and free of aftermarket modifications unless otherwise noted. If you are looking to sell a Submariner or trade one toward another piece, we can provide a specific quote based on your watch's exact condition.

126610LN — Current production, date, black bezel

The current-production Submariner Date in stainless steel with the black Cerachrom bezel. 41mm case, caliber 3235, 70-hour power reserve. Retail price is $10,250. Pre-owned with box and papers: $12,500 – $14,500. Watch-only examples without box or papers trade between $11,000 and $12,500. The 126610LN remains consistently above retail on the secondary market, though the premium has moderated from its 2022 peak. Clean, unworn examples with stickers and hang tags command the top of the range.

126610LV — Current production, date, green bezel ("Starbucks")

The green-bezel Submariner Date, nicknamed "Starbucks" for its green-and-black colorway. Same 41mm case and 3235 movement. Pre-owned with box and papers: $15,000 – $18,000. The green bezel commands a meaningful premium over the black — typically $2,500 to $4,000 more — driven by collector demand and lower allocation at authorized dealers.

124060 — Current production, no-date

The no-date Submariner. 41mm case, caliber 3230, 70-hour power reserve. Retail is $9,100. Pre-owned with box and papers: $11,500 – $13,500. The no-date has its own loyal following — purists prefer the symmetrical dial without the Cyclops lens — and it trades at a slight discount to the 126610LN. It is also the most affordable current-production Submariner entry point.

116610LN — Previous generation, date, black bezel

Produced from 2010 to 2020. 40mm case, caliber 3135, 48-hour power reserve, Cerachrom bezel. This was the first Submariner with a ceramic bezel. Pre-owned with box and papers: $11,000 – $13,000. Watch-only: $9,500 – $11,000. The 116610LN is a sweet spot in the Submariner lineup — it offers the modern ceramic bezel and Glidelock bracelet at a lower price than the current 126610, and the 40mm case size is preferred by many buyers.

116610LV — Previous generation, date, green bezel ("Hulk")

The all-green "Hulk" — green dial and green bezel — produced from 2010 to 2020. Pre-owned with box and papers: $16,000 – $20,000. The Hulk has appreciated significantly since its discontinuation and remains one of the most sought-after modern Rolex references. Clean examples with complete sets trade at the top of the range.

114060 — Previous generation, no-date

Produced from 2012 to 2020. 40mm case, caliber 3130. Pre-owned with box and papers: $10,000 – $12,000. The 114060 is an excellent value in the current market — it offers the ceramic bezel and modern case at a discount to both the current 124060 and the outgoing 116610LN. We recommend this reference frequently to first-time Submariner buyers.

16610 — Five-digit era, date, aluminum bezel

Produced from 1988 to 2010. 40mm case, caliber 3135, aluminum bezel insert. This is the Submariner many collectors grew up wanting. Pre-owned with box and papers: $10,000 – $13,000. Pristine examples with original tritium or luminova dials can push higher, while service-dial examples or watches with replaced bezels trade lower. The 16610 has appreciated steadily as collectors seek out the last "traditional" Submariner before the ceramic era.

5513 — Vintage, no-date

Produced from 1962 to 1989. 40mm case, various calibers (1520, 1530). The 5513 is the quintessential vintage Submariner — simple, honest, and deeply collectible. Pre-owned: $12,000 – $25,000 depending heavily on dial variant, condition, and provenance. Matte-dial examples from the 1960s and early 1970s command the highest prices, while later "glossy" dial versions are more accessible. Original hands, bezels, and inserts are critical value drivers. If you are considering a vintage Sub, an in-person inspection or authentication is essential.

What affects the price

Box and papers. A complete set with the original Rolex box, warranty card (or guarantee papers for vintage), and hang tags typically adds $1,000 to $2,500 to a Submariner's value compared to a watch-only example. The premium is highest on current-production references and diminishes on vintage pieces where complete sets are genuinely rare.

Condition. Scratches on the case and bracelet are expected on a tool watch, but deep gouges, significant polishing, or poorly executed refinishing can reduce value by 10 to 20 percent. On vintage references, original, unpolished cases command dramatic premiums — an unpolished 5513 can be worth twice what a heavily polished example fetches.

Service history. A recently serviced watch with documentation from a Rolex Service Center or reputable independent watchmaker adds confidence for the buyer. However, service-replacement dials and hands on vintage Submariners — while functional — significantly reduce collector value.

Market trend

The Submariner market corrected meaningfully from its 2022 peak, when speculative demand pushed prices 50 to 100 percent above retail on some references. As of mid-2026, prices have stabilized at levels that still reflect a premium over retail for most current references, but the froth is gone. Vintage Submariners (16610 and older) have held their gains more consistently, supported by genuine collector demand rather than speculation. We view the current market as healthy and sustainable — a good time to buy if you intend to wear the watch, and a fair time to sell if you have a piece to move.
