The Omega number, built like a dealer builds it

An offer is not a mystery percentage — it is a chain of real costs subtracted from a real market anchor. The estimator starts from recent sold prices for the reference where we hold them (otherwise the asking prices you have seen), then walks down: selling fees when the piece is re-sold, a margin for how quickly Omegas actually move, condition, and a service reserve where one is likely due. Every line in dollars, and always a range rather than a false single number.

$

Use the typical listed price for the same reference in similar condition — not the highest one you found. If we hold recent market data for your reference, the estimator uses it automatically.

This estimates a dealer offer, not a valuation — it cannot see condition, originality or paperwork. For a figure we would stand behind, send the details and the person who buys these weekly will look at yours.

Reference by reference

What moves an Omega’s value

Omega’s catalogue is broader than most owners realise, and the value spread inside it is wide. The reference number — on the caseback or your card — settles most of the question before condition enters it.

Speedmaster: the generation is the price

A Moonwatch is not one watch. Hesalite-crystal Professionals, the sapphire “sandwich” references, reduced 39mm automatics and the current co-axial 3861 generation all trade at distinct levels. Full sets matter here more than almost anywhere in the catalogue — the presentation box, both straps, the loupe, the papers. A hesalite Professional with sharp case lines and its papers is the easiest Omega there is to price well.

Seamaster: professional models lead

The Diver 300M — especially post-2018 ceramic-dial generations — and the Planet Ocean line are liquid, in-demand watches. Earlier electric-blue wave dials have a following of their own. Aqua Terra sits between sports and dress and trades steadily. As with the Speedmaster, generation and dial variant move the figure more than the model name does.

The quartz era and dress pieces: honest, modest money

Plenty of 1970s–90s quartz and smaller dress Omegas are lovely watches that trade for modest sums. We would rather tell you that plainly than let a “luxury brand” label inflate an expectation the market will not meet. If yours is one of these, the answer costs nothing and you will know where you stand.

Condition rules that are specific to Omega

Unpolished cases with crisp bevels carry a real premium — Speedmaster lyre lugs lose their character quickly under a buffing wheel. Original bracelets with full links matter. On older pieces, an aged original dial usually beats a cleaner service dial. And keep every service record: Omega’s own archives can date a watch, but a paper trail in hand is what a buyer pays for.

Worth understanding

Why our Omega number is worth asking for

Anyone can average Chrono24 listings. The estimate here instead starts from recent sold results — what pieces actually fetched, not what sellers hoped — and shows every deduction between that number and an offer. And when you ask for the real figure, the person answering has priced, bought, serviced, photographed and resold your watch’s siblings recently enough to know where the market really is this month.

If a dealer sale is not your best route — because your piece deserves a collector price rather than a fast one — we will recommend consignment and say so up front.

Common questions

Omega valuation FAQ

How much is my Omega worth?

Reference first, then generation, condition and the full set. A Speedmaster Professional and a quartz dress piece share a logo, not a value. The estimator above itemizes how a dealer builds the number; the form gets you the real figure, free, usually within one business day.

What is a used Speedmaster worth?

Depends on the generation — hesalite, sapphire, reduced, or the current 3861 — and heavily on the full set and an unpolished case. Send the caseback reference and photographs; Speedmasters are the watch we can price fastest.

Do Omegas hold their value?

Professional-line models hold respectably and sell quickly; quartz-era and dress pieces trade modestly. Model by model, not brand-wide — which is the reason this page exists.

Should I service it before selling?

Usually not — you pay retail for the service, we price servicing at trade rates anyway. Keep the records you have, and please do not polish it. Sharp original lines beat shiny ones.

Where can I sell an Omega safely?

Dealer sale for speed and certainty, consignment for a higher net, private sale for the most money and the most risk. We will tell you which pays most for your watch, even when the answer is not us.
